What can Naturopathic Medicine do for you?2020-09-15T14:54:30-07:00

Naturopathic medicine treats all health concerns for all ages from acute to chronic and physical to psychological. Naturopathic medicine is beneficial for the following types of patients:

    • Patients that are looking for disease prevention and health promotion strategies.
    • Patients that have a range of symptoms that they have been unable to address on their own or with the help of other medical practitioners.
    • Patients that have been diagnosed with an illness, often serious or chronic and are looking for treatment options. Naturopathic medicine is very effective for improving the quality of life for those with serious and life-threatening illnesses.
    • Patients that are looking to combine conventional and naturopathic treatments with the aim of minimizing the side effects of drugs, surgery, or conventional treatments.Patients that have a range of symptoms that they have been unable to address on their own or with the help of other medical practitioners.
    • Patients that are looking to combine conventional and naturopathic treatments with the aim of minimizing the side effects of drugs, surgery, or conventional treatments.
How does Naturopathic Medicine compare to Conventional Medicine?2020-09-15T14:55:07-07:00

Both are doctors, both provide primary care and both are similarly trained. The primary differences between naturopathic and conventional medicine are the philosophical approach and the therapies used. Naturopathic doctors (NDs) treat patients as individuals by addressing the physical, environmental, lifestyle, attitudinal, and emotional aspects of health. This allows naturopathic doctors to find and treat the cause of the disease using a variety of therapies. Conventional doctors generally address and treat the symptoms of the disease and use pharmaceutical therapies or surgery.

What does it take to become a Naturopathic Medical Doctor?2020-09-15T14:55:36-07:00

Like a conventional doctor, dentist, or chiropractor, a naturopathic doctor first completes an undergraduate degree at a university or college. A naturopathic medical student then enters into a four-year, full-time accredited naturopathic medical program. Following the program, the naturopathic medical student must pass the state licensing exams to become a licensed Naturopathic Doctor (ND) or licensed Naturopathic Medical Doctor (NMD). Health providers that did not attend an accredited naturopathic medical program and pass the state licensing exams, such as a naturopathic practitioner, doctor of natural medicine, naturopath, or natural doctor, are not considered a ND or NMD.

    Is a Naturopathic Doctor a real doctor?2020-09-15T14:55:47-07:00

Yes. Dr. Romero is a Licensed Naturopathic Doctor, which is not to be confused with a “naturopath”. The titles “traditional naturopath” and “naturopathic doctor” (or “naturopathic physician”) are not interchangeable. A licensed naturopathic doctor (ND/NMD) is a primary care physician who is trained to diagnose and prescribe, while a traditional naturopath is not able to do either.

What is a Comprehensive Care Program?2020-09-15T14:47:06-07:00

A Comprehensive Care Program is an all-inclusive approach to healthcare and treatment plan. Dr. Romero offers different programs to meet your health needs and your budget. Most programs are approximately 3-5 months depending on your goals and desired treatments. Learn more about Dr. Romero’s Comprehensive Care Programs.
